Yoshimune Dobari Tournament shinai

Our Yoshimune Shinai is our fastest Shinai. It is also crafted from the Keichiku species of bamboo that guarantees reliability. The profile of the Shinai is a medium dobari style with a narrow tip that greatly increases tip speed which is advantageous in competition. Although this Shinai was developed for intermediate to advanced Kendo practitioners, novice users have credited this Shinai for a noticeable speed increase in multiple hit combinations. Our staff recommends this as the best competition Shinai that we offer.

"DOBARI" Style Shinai

The dobari style shinai as compared to the regular shinai is designed thicker at the base. As a result, the center of gravity is shifted to the base of the shinai, towards the handle, making it feel lighter when you swing. Also, due to the weight being centered in the handles, the dobari shinai gives the kendoka the ability to execute wrap around and kaeshi wazas at ease.

Majority of shinai's out there are made of Keichiku bamboo. Keichiku bamboo is roughly 7-8cm in diameter and are harvested all year round in Taiwan. The high density fibers is said to contribute to the long life of the shinai. However, during import, or the storage they go through some dry conditions which may remove some of the natural oil and or moisture from the shinai resulting it easy to develop slivers on the shinai upon use. All our shinai has given special oil treatment in factory before shipment that can extend the life of shinai and increase the durability and resistance from being destroy by dehydration.

Bought this shinai as I needed a new tournament shinai and I was immediately feeling the speed! The tip is light and quick that may take some getting used to. I dont know if I can go back to my old Dobari's after getting used to these.
