Each of Aoi's japanese swords is hand crafted; in accordance with traditional requirements relating to balance, shape and style. Highly ranked, government registered Toshyo (sword smiths) ensure that our japanese swords - katana meet Japan's standards; as well as include their own touch of experience and craftsmanship. HOW TO ORDER? (refer to the chart at the bottom of page)

1. First decide on the specifications for the blade:
   • What is required length of the blade,
     eg. 2.45 shaku (1 shaku = 30.3cm = 11.92”)
   • What is the desired weight of the sword (approximation only !)
   • Is a groove line, in the blade, required? (eg. yes or no)
2. What level of polish is required? (eg. standard, deluxe, premiere)
   Decide on what fittings will be added to the sword OR no fittings (shira-saya)
   • tsuka-maki material and colour? (eg. silk, cotton, leather) Type of saya finish (kuro, kuroro, kuro- ishime, han-same etc.) Tsuba & Menuki
   • (materials and general theme, eg. gold flowers, dragons etc.)
   • Fuchi-kashira & Habaki
     (materials and general theme, eg. gold, silver, inlayed etc.)
3. Contact an Aoi Budogu representative, and place your order! We can assist you with the finer details of your request !
4. Crafting usually takes 6-8 months. Customers are kept up to date, regarding their orders, via photographs and the telephone. Payments will be authorized through the customer's credit card.
